The grebe is a lifelike wooden bird that is carved and painted by hand. It is a slender bird with a gray back, yellow belly and a long tail that constantly bobs up and down. It lives near water and catches insects along the shore. The nest is placed in cavities at the shoreline, often filled with moss. In winter, it moves south, sometimes all the way to North Africa. The grebe enlivens the environment of the waterways with its presence.
